He is a former Head of Public Affairs at the BBC (1993-6); a former consultant on media policy issues to a wide variety of media organisations, and briefly a lecturer at JOMEC.
He has written on media issues for a number of different publications.
In daily life, he is the Assembly Member representing the Rhondda in the National Assembly for Wales.
